Roomy is a link page drawn as a room, at roo.my and in the Roomy app. It is run by Quartz Apps LLC, the developer of the Roomy app. This page says how to delete your Roomy account, and what happens to your data when you do.
How to delete your account
Deleting your account happens at once, and it can’t be undone.
In the Roomy app
- Open Settings.
- Tap Delete account.
- Type your room’s name to confirm, then tap Delete account.
On the web
- Sign in at roo.my.
- Go to Settings and press Delete account.
- Type your room’s name to confirm, then press Delete.
If you haven’t signed in recently, you’ll be asked to sign in again first. On the web you can press Download first to get a copy of your data before you delete.
By email
If you can’t sign in, email privacy@roo.my with your room’s address, like roo.my/@name. If your account has an email address, write from it, so we can check the request comes from you. We delete the account within 30 days.
What we delete
When you delete your account, we delete:
- your account and your sign-in records
- your room, its links, videos and songs, its visit counts, link opens and plays, and the notices we sent you
- the messages you left and were left, and who you blocked
- any change of your handle
- your pictures and My pictures, unless another room shows the same picture or someone else uploaded it too
- your saved layouts, and changes you hadn’t saved
- the app’s sign-ins on your phones, their notification tokens and App Attest keys
- your AI assistants and access keys
- the record of what you uploaded
- where you came from when you first visited, and which way you signed up
- the email address on any name we were holding for you
- your coins, which can’t be used again, and what you got with them
- any gift still waiting for you, whose coins go back to the person who sent it
If you signed in with Apple, we also tell Apple to cut Roomy off from your Apple ID.
A few copies take longer to go:
- Pictures of your room, the cards that show when someone shares your link, stop being shown at once and are deleted within 30 days.
- Thumbnails of your videos and songs are deleted by our daily clean-up, once they are 7 days old.
- Copies of emails we sent you, sign-in links included, are kept by Cloudflare for about 7 days.
- Backups. Our database keeps 30 days of history, and we keep weekly copies of it for about 8 weeks. So deleted data is fully gone about 8 weeks after you delete.
If you linked Roomy to a Discord role, also remove Roomy under Connections in your Discord settings.
What we keep, and for how long
- Your handle is held for 90 days, so old links to your room don’t lead to a stranger. Then anyone can claim it.
- Reports, and our record of anything we did to your room or account, are kept as our moderation record. The scrambled network address (a keyed hash) in a report is deleted after 12 months. The words of a reported message are kept for 12 months.
- Pictures we took down. One taken down for child safety is kept for a year after we report it, as US law requires. One taken down after a copyright notice, or for breaking the rules, is kept until the matter is settled. A picture we banned is kept only as a fingerprint, so it can’t be uploaded again.
- Your coin entries, gifts and invites are kept as long as Roomy runs, because every balance is the sum of its entries. They stay with an account that has nothing left in it: no email, no Discord ID and no room.
- Scrambled codes from your claim (keyed hashes of your network, your inbox and your Discord ID), and the room you came from, stay with that emptied account. They stop one inbox earning the claim coins twice, and can’t be turned back into your address.
- If we made your room for you, our record of when and how you agreed stays.
- Emails with us are kept for 2 years.
- Anything the law requires. If the law requires us to keep an account, for example while a child safety report is open, we can’t delete it until that ends.
The Privacy policy has the full list.
Delete some of your data and keep your account
You can remove any of these yourself, at any time, without deleting your account.
- Links, videos and songs. In the editor (Edit room on the web, the Edit tab in the app), tap the thing that holds it, press Remove, then Save. We keep a removed link’s address, its last safety check and its open counts until your room is deleted, so an unsafe link can’t come straight back and your numbers stay right.
- Notes and your bio. Take a note off in the editor and press Save. Change or clear your bio in Settings.
- Pictures. Take a picture down from its frame in the editor and press Save. To delete it for good, open My pictures in the editor, press Delete and pick it. It is deleted at once, unless a room still shows it or someone else keeps the same picture. A picture that no room shows and nobody keeps is deleted by our daily clean-up once it is 7 days old. Our record of who uploaded it goes a day after the picture does.
- Messages left for you. In the app, go to Settings, Messages, tap a message and tap Delete. On the web, press Delete on it in your Messages. If you reported it, the report keeps its words for 12 months. Every message is deleted 90 days after it was sent, and one you left for someone else goes sooner if they delete it.
- Saved layouts. In the editor, open My layouts and press Delete on one.
- Unsaved changes. Press Discard in the editor.
- Blocks. Go to Settings, Blocked, and press Unblock.
- Notifications and your phones. Turn each kind off in the app’s Settings, Notifications. Sign out on a phone to delete its notification token and App Attest key, or use Sign out everywhere in Settings for every phone at once. We keep a record of when each sign-in ended.
- AI assistants and access keys. Remove one at roo.my/ai. It stops working at once, and we keep a record of when it ended.
- Sign in with Apple. Remove Apple in Settings, under Sign in on the web or Sign-in ways in the app, while you have another way to sign in. We delete Apple’s ID for you, your name from Apple and Apple’s token, and tell Apple to cut Roomy off.
To stop us counting your visits to rooms, press Don’t count my visits in the Privacy policy. For anything else, or for a copy of your data, email privacy@roo.my.
